Water as Artistic Expression
At the Fez Gathering, we celebrate water as a powerful source of inspiration across cultures and artistic disciplines. This year’s music concert is the culmination of a short residency where artists have explored water as a central theme in their creative expressions. Inspired by its flow, rhythm, and transformative qualities, the musicians blend tradition with contemporary sounds to create a rich, immersive experience. Their performances not only honor our shared connection with water but also reflect its profound symbolism as both a life force and a wellspring of artistic inspiration
We Are Water
In this special performance, Spanish dancer and choreographer Marti Corbe explores the themes of separation and connection through movement, with water as a central element that both divides and unites us. During his short residency with students from the Kan Ya Makan center, Marti reflects on how water shapes boundaries and bridges across cultures—reminding us that, as humans, we are largely made of water. Drawing from the shared cultural points between Spain and Morocco, this collaborative dance piece highlights the fluid connections between our identities, emotions, and the natural world

REJECTS DANS L’EAU
Musical performance inspired by the piece Reflections in the Water from Images by Claude Debussy. By integrating harmonizer and vocoder pedals, this work merges art and technology to not only explore the beauty of water but also uncover its hidden forms and life that the human eye cannot easily perceive. Through the use of advanced technology, we delve into the wonders and complexities of water, revealing the invisible aspects that shape our environment and addressing the ecological challenges linked to water.

Aguadeiras
Aguadeiras highlights the vital connection between water and the cycles of human existence, emphasizing its significance to life itself. We are made of water; we come from water. It serves as the portal to the universe, influencing our emotions, actions, and thoughts. By rescuing water, we reconnect with our wild, natural selves, aligning with the planet and awakening our collective responsibility to preserve our water resources, Earth, and our way of life.
This unique performance is an art-ritual that unites dance, music, and theater with rites linked to the elements of nature, the cycles of the year, and water. It embodies the revival of ancestral knowledge, tapping into the memory of our people through the figure of the Water Woman.
The project engages in artistic research and experimentation, utilizing urban, historical, and alternative spaces such as streets, subways, squares, trains, ruins, and historical monuments. Each setting becomes a source of inspiration for the exploration of water’s significance.
Performance artist Cris Marcondes aims to carry water across diverse landscapes, learning the histories of various communities while interacting and exchanging knowledge. Through her art, she seeks to inhabit the city and daily life with performances that create an immersive environment for exploration.
